Who be YB Creative?

I’m a 25-plus-year veteran of of advertising, digital marketing and brand strategy. I’ve worked predominately in Chicago and Cincinnati. I’ve led creative teams at digital agencies and branding and package design firms.

Clients seek me out for my strategic thinking and ability to organize content into compelling messaging. Agencies appreciate my off-kilter creativity for video scripts and ad concepts. Owners and CTOs are keen on the value I bring as a nimble consultancy, highly experienced, but lean and mean where the rubber meets the road.

The Company Line

January 1, 2019, was unseasonably warm for Cincinnati, Ohio. It was a bluebird sky. On that auspicious day, #5 The Ohio State University beat #9 Washington in the 105th Rose Bowl game. George the last Hawaiian tree snail (Achatinella apexfulva) died at the University of Hawaii aged 14 years. YB Creative became a thing. What has six years freelancing taught me?

Flex

Flex outside your role and learn all the roles needed to run the business. Be a project manager. Be a CTO. Dance with excel, that coquettish naiad of a spreadsheet software. Stay on your learning curve.

Be Humble

I’m no acquisition target of Omnicom-Interpublic. Just a man with a laptop who knows the value of a day’s work and appreciates the trust his clients place in him. 

Why Be Creative?

Because every day, there’s a new, better, funner way to answer the brief. Since 18,000 years ago when Michelangelo’s great, great, great grandfather/mother took a bristle brush to the cave wall under Lascaux the answer has been the same: why be creative? Because we can. We must.
